The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) has become the birthing place of EVs, thanks to its top-of-the-year timing (typically within the first two weeks of January) and no small coincidence that just about everything at CES runs on electricity (other than the giveaway fidget spinners, water bottles and the like).

The Road was particularly fascinated by AEV Technologies of Austin, Texas. This impressive startup is building all-electric utility vehicles with an equally impressive price – starting at $14999. Of course, these aren’t powered by Li-ion batteries (for now), and they are limited in range (50 miles), but the entire concept is perfect for urban delivery fleets looking for – sorry, once again – impressive TCO.

And Fisker is back with another opulent supercar for those with a spare $130K+.

Aside from a 2-hour blackout in the Central Hall (caused by rain) this CES was once again a vast showcase of enticing consumer technology we may not need but are encouraged to buy.

Of course, I’m not talking about electric vehicles. 😮
